vExpert 2020 – Applications Open
It’s that time of year again, although this time it feels slightly earlier than usual but maybe I’m getting old, but you can apply here for the vExpert 202o program.
Read the full article written by Corey Romero here but I’ll share my thoughts on the program below having been a vExpert for the last 2 years.
There’s no doubt about it the vExpert program and the vCommunity is amazing. There are so many people who give up their time to help others, share ideas or even just sink a few beers. I first sent my application of in 2017 after encouragement from my boss and fellow vExpert Barry Coombs @virtualisedReal and I had began blogging on my companies blog site. I didn’t make the cut that year and on reflection my application wasn’t the best it could have been, and in hindsight I should have got some help with it but more on that later. After some dedication to logging my activity within the community I was accepted into the program the following year in 2018. I still remember seeing the acceptance email and the sense of achievement that my contributions were valuable. As with most techies I do suffer impostor syndrome to varying levels but the support and feedback you get is just awesome. This is really the key thing for me and a massive part of why I continue to contribute in the best way I can.
I recorded a podcast earlier in the year with several other vExperts where we all share our opinions and thoughts on the program. I should say I’ve no idea what a gaggle is but it was certainly fun to record.
