It’s been almost 9 months since I launched my own blog site and I haven’t managed to create as much content as I originally planned. Now before I get into the excuses as to why anyone that did follow will notice the new site name and an investment in a logo. I admit I did start off in a bit of a rush and didn’t really think about a name or a brand. Well 9 months later and I’ve come up with the identity of thevcave.com with vbenevans.com taking early retirement 😊
What I have been up to…
I’ve had an exceptionally busy year so far with big changes at home and at work. My second daughter was born almost a year ago. Even though there’s not a large age gap from my first I’d forgotten how big the impact of a new baby is on the family dynamic. My day job has also had a significant change as well. Over the last 6 months I have been transitioning from an architect to an architect manager where I now head up a team of 4. This has been a huge learning curve and I’m also doing an apprenticeship alongside the day job. It’s taken me a good while to find the right balance between home, work and play which has meant blogging has taken a back seat. I’ve also had a self imposed twitter exile whilst I’ve tried to work out the balance and press the reset button.
So what now….
I hope I’m not jumping the gun but things are beginning to settle now, or at least the routine has taken shape and things are a lot less chaotic. This means I can get back to blogging and adding some value back to the VMware community. I’m currently sat in my hotel room in Barcelona about to attend my first VMworld so this is great opportunity to relaunch my blog, add some great content, and update my twitter handle! You can now follow me on @thevcave and I’ll be posting my first day VMworld summary soon.
